The Sanskrit word "jagra" means conscious, awake, or aware - a state of being we work to cultivate in ourselves and others.
2
Integration
Jagra Foundation's work is rooted in the belief that connecting the truth within to the truth outside is essential for personal and societal transformation.
3
Transformation
We view internal and external transformation as inseparable, and our initiatives aim to support both the personal and systemic changes necessary for cocreating a flourishing future.
Investing in a Flourishing Future
1
Personal Transformation
Our initiatives start by empowering individuals to connect their inner truth with their outer actions, catalyzing self-awareness, personal growth, and breakthrough possibilities for collaboration in the midst of complex or wicked challenges.
2
Organizational Transformation
By sourcing our choices and ways of working together from our inner truth, we can align personal and organizational behaviors with societal values, and together transform the systems and structures that shape our social, environmental, and economic landscape.
3
Systems Transformation
Ultimately, our work is focused on co-creating a future where all life - human and non-human - can flourish together forever. Together, we can navigate challenges greater than any single person or organization can address alone.
Shareholder Democracy
Empower Shareholders
Our Shareholder Democracy initiative is making it easy for shareholders to exercise their ownership rights, by voting their shares based on their values and empowering representatives who will engage corporations on their behalf.
Align Corporate Purpose
By aligning the purpose of publicly traded corporations with societal values, through shareholder voting and representation, we aim to transform capitalism into a regenerative economy of care that reflects the values of shareholders.
Diversify Governance
By allowing shareholders to vote alongside civil society organizations, we can diversify corporate governance to include a broader spectrum of society's cares and concerns and unlock the power of business to address society's most pressing challenges.
Our first initiative, Breaking Through Gridlock, created a transformative pedagogy that helps changemakers identify and overcome common pitfalls that hinder social and environmental progress.
2
Embrace Creative Tensions
The pedagogy empowers change leaders to embrace tensions, engage in authentic dialogue across divides, and co-create solutions to seemingly intractable problems.
3
Disseminate Widely
Through publications, courses, and teacher training, we have shared this powerful approach with thousands of change leaders around the world, empowering them to be more effective in their work.
Jagra Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2016 to steward our Breaking Through Gridlock work, receive outside support, and reinvest our book sales proceeds towards our mission-aligned initiatives.
Founders' Vision
The foundation was co-created by Jason Jay, Ph.D. and Gabriel Grant, Ph.D., who are committed to helping people connect the truth within to the truth outside, such that we can co-create a future where all life flourishes together.
